International wire transfers are a fast, safe, and inexpensive way to send money overseas. You can choose to wire funds on a periodic or occasional basis to locations around the globe. Transfer requests can be made via mail, by facsimile, or in person.
In order to expedite these requests, it is recommended that you contact the beneficiary’s financial institution to obtain their preferred wiring and routing instructions before submitting your request.
When requesting a foreign wire transfer, please include the following information.
Sender's Information
- Your name and signature
- Your Account (Member) Number and Account Type (S8, S2.1, etc.) from which the funds are to be withdrawn
- Amount in U.S. dollars or in the foreign currency
- Date of the requested transfer
- A telephone number where you can be reached, for verification purposes
Beneficiary's information
- Name and address
- Bank name and the bank's street address of the bank holding the beneficiary's account
- Account number (must be in IBAN
format for transfers to most countries in Europe)
- Bank ID code — BIC, CHIPS, or SWIFT code identifying Beneficiary's bank
Please note: If the intended recipient is someone other than yourself, the transfer request must be confirmed by you in writing or through a fax bearing your signature.
We are committed to begin processing requests within 24 hours of receipt, but please note that wiring funds generally takes 1-3 days to arrive at the final destination. Any number of things can increase the time required to process the request, such as insufficient information, verification measures for account security, conversion into a foreign currency, the number of intermediary banks, or even depending on the country in which the recipient’s bank is located. Please take this into consideration when planning to send funds and allow for sufficient notification in order to better ensure the funds arrive when needed.
