Bank-Fund Staff Federal Credit Union computer networks are protected by multiple layers of enterprise level security applications. These services work together to ensure the safe storage, transmission, and protection of confidential personal and financial data. Below is a list of some of the many proactive and preventative measures that we employ:
- Firewalls: Enterprise level Firewalls provide a safe and secure network by filtering Internet/network traffic and isolating segments of a network into trust domains capable of communicating with other networks only through allowed channels. One of the BFSFCU’s core security applications, the Firewall examines every message entering or leaving the Credit Union’s network.
- Intrusion Detection System: BFSFCU’s Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is configured to detect unauthorized access to computer and network systems. These systems are designed to provide an early warning system against possible attempts to compromise BFSFCU’s systems, and in most instances deter or prevent a compromise before it can begin.
- Application Layer Filtering: BFSFCU’s utilizes the latest in application layer filtering technology to provide intelligent detection and prevention of threats posed by various viruses, attempts to exploit known logical flaws in computer software, and so forth.
- System Monitoring and Logging: Extensive network and computer resource monitoring and logging of all security and system related events help us maintain a high level of up-time.
- Enterprise Level Anti-Virus Protection: BFSFCU has implemented a multi-tiered, real-time, anti-virus solution to prevent breaches in security, loss of data and downtime associated with computer viruses, trojans, or worms.
