Tips to Keep Your Account Safe:
Use Digital Banking Mobile Apps to access your accounts.
Be careful when visiting any URL through a search engine. We recommend logging into your accounts with
BankFund by going directly through our mobile app or by directly typing in
https://bfsfcu.org in the web address. Double check the URL in the top web address bar
before entering any personal information (like your username and password). Regularly clear your
browser cache to remove any stored sensitive data.
Review your account statement every month. Take the time to ensure that every line
item in each account you own is expected and correct. Confirm that check items were received by the
payee and that receipts for any purchases match the exact amount listed on your statement.
Subscribe to receive Digital Banking alerts. Alerts provide timely notifications
whenever specific activity occurs on your accounts. A variety of alerts matching the criteria you select
can be enabled for each account type and alerts can be received by text message or email. For example,
if you would like to be notified of any transaction that has been withdrawn from your checking account,
you could set up the alert titled ‘Any Transaction Over $X Threshold’.
Hint: Set this alert threshold for $.01 to receive notifications for every transaction withdrawn from your account. Other helpful alerts include Account Balance Below $X Threshold or Check Number XXX Cleared.
To set up alerts:
- Log in to Digital Banking.
- Select your name from the drop-down menu (top right corner).
- Select ‘Settings’, then ‘Manage Alerts’ to navigate to alert types where you can select criteria for each alert.
- Select ‘Manage Recipients’ to decide how alert notifications are to be received (text or email).
Frequently monitor your account activity online. Digital Banking is a useful tool to
monitor transaction activity throughout the month. Carve out time each week to log in and review your
accounts while various payments and purchases are top of mind. Make it a habit to review check items
that have been withdrawn by clicking on your checking account, the transaction, and “view check “ (in
Digital Banking) This will allow you to verify that the intended payee and amount are correct.
Hint: If a check you have written has not cleared in a reasonable timeframe, follow up
with the payee to verify the check has been received and is still in their possession.
Report Fraudulent Activity: Members are responsible for timely review of their
statements and to notify BankFund of any unauthorized activity within 60 days of when the monthly
account statement is first made available. More information can be found in Section Five(5) of the Electronic Fund Transfers Agreement and
Disclosure.
